Feline Rescue with a Magical and Stylish Twist – “Cats in Bow Ties,” by Lindsi Jones

I am so excited to post my review of “Cats in Bow Ties – Photographs & Rescue Stories of Shelter Cats with Style” by Lindsi Jones.

Lindsi Jones is a skilled photographer who has put together a beautiful book that will tug at your heart strings. This book worked so well for me. I devour animal rescue stories and I adore cat photography. Lindsi puts the two together, but she adds a special twist. These cats are all featured wearing a bow tie. The bow tie “ties” her portrait collection together well.

Lindsi carefully pairs the bow tie with the cat in each portrait. The colors and patterns are all designed to show off the cat. Her photography is clear and crisp. Nothing distracts the eye from the beauty of the cat. It is clear she knows how to work with her subjects to capture their personalities and make them shine. And the ultimate result of showing off the cat is to catch the eye of the potential adopter. Showcasing shelter felines in bow ties to aid in adoption efforts is a brilliant idea, and I enjoy the book even more knowing that these sweet portraits help the cats.

As a matter of fact, all proceeds from copies purchased through Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary or Miss Kitty’s Fabulous Finds go directly to the cats. I couldn’t love that idea more. You can also purchase signed copies from Lindsi. For a special keepsake book like this, I think that’s an amazing option. Or to order the book on Amazon and get it quickly for the holidays: visit Cats in Bow Ties

This collection is so special. I loved reading about the cats and learning more about their personalities. Whether it was Pesto, with his purple bow tie and disapproving frown, or Susie Q, with her purple bow tie and tons of tortitude.

Other favorites of mine were Smudge, with his yellow polka dot tie standing out against his coal black fur. Or Rafiki, a handsome tabby in a multi-color stripe tie who looked so much like my own tabby Tess, and lived to the same advanced age of 19. And Zero, with his red and white striped bow tie and his crossed eyes, who was Lindsi’s own adoption success story. That is a wonderful personal touch to the collection.

Lindsi organizes the portraits into groups. There’s the permanent residents of the Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary. It’s a reality for many cat shelters, but these felines deserve attention too.

Next, there’s the current residents up for adoption. Maybe you need Nutter Butter, the lap cat in the purple gingham tie. Or Jake the orange tabby in the snazzy green and black tie. I have no doubt these felines will find their homes soon, if they haven’t already!

The next group is the success stories, cats who have already found their forever homes – and I am certain their portraits in their fashionable ties played a role. Spot, the tuxedo lovebug and Danica, the long-haired tabby were my favorites in this group.

Next there are Working Cats. Who doesn’t love to read a story about cats with jobs? Silver, the striking Siamese in the red bow tie on the cover of this beautiful book works at an assisted living home, for example. The last two groups are the Cat Families (roommate cats living in groups) and the Cafe Cats, who are inspiring me to google up cat cafes right now.

I strongly encourage you to pick up this book for yourself. And get a copy for each of your cat loving friends or family members. I have no doubt you’ll hear squeals of delight.

And you may just inspire them (or yourself) to go out and adopt a shelter cat. And if those bow ties on the Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary cats in the portraits are just too alluring, Lindsi offers a special treat at the end of the book. She has a tutorial on how to craft a bow tie for your own fur baby to wear in his or her next portrait. The purrfect ending for your fashionable feline in his or her forever home, I’d say.
