I am part of a great writers’ group that meets weekly to critique members’ work and to support one another in our writing journey. We recently started a podcast to discuss writing craft. Our fourth episode is now live on YouTube.
Our question this week: “Are you a Plotter or a Pantser?”
In this episode we discuss the differences.
A plotter is a writer who plans and outlines the entire book before beginning to write. And a pantser is one who just has an idea and sits down to the page or the computer and writes.
There is absolutely no right or wrong way to create, everyone’s process is different. But it is helpful to know your process.
I started out thinking I was a pantser, but as I have learned more about writing and myself as a writer, I now know I am more of a plotter. I discuss that in the episode. My partners talk about their own styles. Join us!
My partners on the podcast include (in alphabetical order):
- Avis Adams, an amazing published poet and YA writer whose novel is under consideration by an editor
- Carl Lee, a writer of paranormal fantasy – his first novel has also generated interest from an editor
- Melanie MacDonald, a mystery writer editing her first novel
- Wendy Kendall, the author of a published cozy mystery
