Appearance of Power – August Progress and Going with the Flow

In my last post, I told you about my progress with beta readers for The Appearance of Power. As a reminder, it is a young adult fantasy about the son of a deposed tyrant mage who is being tested for magic. Chaos ensues.

Four of my six beta readers gave me some great feedback, and I made changes based on that information. In addition, I added one new scene that ties up some loose threads. A couple of beta readers pointed out that they didn’t know the missing information. While I think I could have gotten away without explaining it until book two, it does help to know it in book one, and writing the scene allowed me to get a few more important details in as well, so I think the book is richer for those changes.

I am waiting to hear from two more, when they are able to find the time to finish the book. I can incorporate that feedback later.

In the meantime, I have sent the manuscript to an editor, from whom I purchased an editing package back when she had it on sale. I am not sure how long her timeline is to review the book, but I am hoping for some great input.

In other news, I have settled on a tentative title for this series – The Merlien Magic Power Saga.

As I have explained before, the timeline for publication is uncertain right now. I will share more about this book as I get closer to publishing it.

Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for reading.
