It’s been a packed weekend at the Pacific Northwest Writers Association Conference in SeaTac, WA.
I was a little concerned how much I would enjoy the event, as my critique group partners were not in attendance for various reasons, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I did bump into several writers I know, which allowed us to catch up and say hello. And I had the opportunity to have lunch with a critique partner and another writer friend. The bonus was having family in town for a birthday dinner (my birthday is Monday). My stepmom is a writer too, so we enjoyed the conference together, and I got to spend time with my dad.
There were a number of great sessions. I enjoyed a presentation on cover art by Kiffer Brown from Chanticleer. Cindy Dees gave a great talk on refining your genre / your logline / your tropes to do the best job marketing. She also did the keynote this morning, and all I can say is that it was mind blowing. Other sessions I loved included several on indie publishing, and an excellent discussion on adding emotion into your work.
All in all, it was a successful conference, and as usual, I am fired up to get back to work.
Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for reading.
