The Appearance of Power is a First Place Winner in the 2024 Dante Rossetti Book Awards for YA Fiction

In early April, I attended the Chanticleer Authors Conference. It was a great experience, with lots of networking and valuable sessions, but the pinnacle for me was the Awards Banquet.

I had entered The Appearance of Power, my young adult fantasy, in the Dante Rossetti Book Awards, and it had reached the finalist stage. That is an honor all by itself because the competition is fierce.

I was nervous, to say the least, and it took quite a while to get around to the Dante Rossetti category. The CIBA awards include 25+ categories, and there were several award winners at my table.

When they called my name for The Appearance of Power, I could hardly believe it. I won a Grand Prize for short fiction last year, but it’s very different to get that kind of notice for a full length novel. I am thrilled that my young adult fiction made the cut.

All in all, it was a successful authors conference for me, and as usual, I am fired up to get back to work. Since The Appearance of Power is finished, I am commencing work on book 2 in the series. I intend to complete book 2 and 3, and then rapid release them in a short time frame for binge readers.

Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for reading.
